ใช้ not...any more หรือ not...any longer เพื่อบอกว่า สถานการณ์ได้เปลี่ยนแปลงไปแล้ว
ทั้ง any more และ any longer อยู่ในตำแหน่งท้ายประโยค เช่น
- Ann doesn't work here any more. (หรือ any longer). She left last month.
- Ann ไม่ได้ทำงานที่นี่อีกต่อไปแล้ว (ไม่ใช่ Ann doesn't still work here.)
- We used to be good friends but we aren't any more. ( or 'any longer)
- เราไม่ใช่เพื่อนรักกันต่อไปอีกแล้ว
ในความหมายเดียวกันนี้ อาจจะใช้ no longer ก็ได้ แต่ no longer จะปรากฏในตำแหน่งกลางประโยค เช่น
- Ann no longer works here.
** โปรดระวัง เราไม่ใช้ no more ในความหมายนี้ เช่น
- We are no longer friends. (No ' We are no more friends')
เปรียบเทียบการใช้ still and not...any more ในประโยคต่อไปนี้
- Gilbert still works here but Ann doesn't work here any more.
Gilbert ยังคงทำงานที่นี่ แต่ Ann ไม่ได้ทำงานที่นี่อีกต่อไปแล้ว

ใช้ already เพื่อบอกว่ามีอะไรบางอย่างเกินขึ้นเร็วเกินคาด already มักจะอยู่ในตำแหน่งกลางประโยค เช่น
- When is Sue going on holiday? "She had already gone" เธอไปแล้ว (เร็วกว่าที่คาดไว้)
- Shall I tell Liz the news or does she already know? ..หรือว่าเธอรู้แล้ว
- I've only just had lunch and I'm already hungry. .... ฉันหิวแล้ว

สำนวน put your feet up
(idiom) put your feet up (UK) = to relax, especially by sitting with your feet supported above the ground
-You go home and put your feet up, love.
เธอกลับบ้านและพักผ่อนนะ
- I'm going to make myself a cup of coffee and put my feet up for half an hour.
ชั้นจะชงกาแฟและพักผ่อนอยู่ประมาณครึ่งชั่วโมง

หลังจากที่ทำงานมาทั้งสัปดาห์ คุณสมควรที่จะไปพักผ่อนวันหยุดสัปดาห์นี้นะ

with you feet resting on something โดยเอาเท้าพาดพักไปที่ไหนซักแห่ง
**เกี่ยวกับ foot อีกสำนวนหนึ่งซึ่งอยากเรียนให้ท่านทราบ ก็คือ get a foot in the door
เอาเท้าเข้าประตู ก็หมายถึง ใกล้จะพบกับความสำเร็จ
อีกคำหนึ่ง คือ I am having one foot in the grave. ฉันน่ะมีขาข้างหนึ่งในหลุมฝังศพแล้ว” (grave เกรฟว แปลว่า หลุมฝังศพ)
ผู้ที่ขาข้างหนึ่งอยู่ในหลุมฝังศพ ก็คือคนที่ very old and near death. แก่และใกล้ความตายเข้าไปทุกขณะ นั่นเองครับ
